Photo Contest

So, about a month ago I found out about a photo contest on my campus that was themed towards world locations.
Luckily, I had some from the cruise from the summer and sent 6 or so. 200 pictures were chosen out of 900 to be judged for prizes. I am not really looking for a win, but I am still pretty excited that i get to keep the print and the frame after.

Chance Picture #1

My photography buddy has pushed using manual focus, adjusting my aperture and shutter speed since I started trying to figure out photography. But occasionally I like setting the focus to auto and taking 'chance' pictures.
This is the first of a series that I will post simply because they turned out pretty looking.

September 13th, 2008

The picture above is of the 8 foot weeds in front of my porch that I thought were baby trees. My roommate majoring in natural resources told me otherwise.

My second Fall here in Colorado has begun. The unpredictable weather is something I have grown quite fond of (for the most part).

Want #1

Before I found my new love, I wanted this camera with a haunting passion.
After seeing the camera paired with this perfect worn leather case, I am smitten again.

Pictures... LIGHTING!

I took a couple quick snaps before and during my TERRIBLE drive back to Fort Collins.

The natural lighting in the first two pictures is pleasant.

A Taste of the Mediterranean

I saw a smörgåsbord of pretty things while on my trip. I would rather have had two weeks in one place, but I still enjoyed the trip.

Back!

I am home. No jet lag but still very tired. Here is a quick pic before I spam my blog with the rest of my pictures. It is blurry because I took it while riding in a taxi. But I am still proud of it.

Homework?

For the past 4 hours I have been help spellbound by this digital photography school blog.

It has a lot of that good stuff a beginner can use:

-Portrait help
-Things about my camera I didn't know
-Tips from pros
-My favorite is the DIY barf bag diffuser

and much much more!

Isn't that right cat in a cup?!

Cat says 'DO NOT WANT'

20 pages out of 105 till I am up to date with the entire blog. Homework can wait.

Swoop Woop!

D40 vs D60

In about ten minutes the clock will read 12:00am and will mark the beginning of July. To most this means the heart of summer and fun. To me, It marks the the month of my birth. On the 5th I will turn a regal 22 years and realize that I only have life markers of 30, 40, 50 and so on. Along with that I can look forward to retirement and any event that may come with that. This means that I will have to treat myself with a new toy to distract me from that realization. I have decided that toy will either be the Nikon D40 or D60.

The deciding factor will be whether I want 6 mega pixels or 10. Decisions... decisions... Here comes 4 days of hardcore research and headaches.
